MAE sums up charity campaign results

The Acţiunea Europeana Movement (MAE) summed up the results of the nationwide charity campaign "From Gift to Gift" carried out last month. The campaign also covered the Transnistrian region and the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia. MAE first vice president Ion Neagu told a news conference held at Info-Prim Neo on February 2 that eight teams of the organization visited over 60 institutions, where they made donations and had meetings with teachers, students and other groups of people. The teams were composed of leaders of the MAE, representatives of the European Youth Forum and Forum for European Women, accompanied by presidents of the MAE’s area offices. He said that the money collected by members and supporters of the MAE was used to purchase things needed by the beneficiaries: TV sets, audio systems, microwaves, books, stationery, etc. Among the beneficiaries of donations were: the District Public Library in Straseni town; the Construction College in Hancesti town; the old people’s homes in Leova town and Cernoleuca village of Donduseni district; the European Council Club in Chetrosu village of Drochia district; the School of Arts "Maria Biesu" in Stefan Voda town; the kindergartens in Barboieni village of Nisporeni district, Iepureni village of Cantemir district, Zaicani village of Rascani district, Onitcani village of Criuleni district; the auxiliary boarding schools for children with disabilities in Visoca village of Soroca district, Marculesti village of Floresti district and Grinauti-Moldova village of Ocnita district, etc. At the February 1 meeting, the MAE’s Standing Bureau decided to continue the charity campaign after the election campaign for the 2009 parliamentary elections, Ion Neagu said.
