The events in Parliament that ended with the removal of Speaker Marian Lupu from office will most probably lead to early elections, consider political analyst Arcadie Barbarosie. He told IPN that there are also other possible scenarios, including a coalition between the Liberal-Democrats and the Communists. The scenario that the former components of the Alliance for European Integration will come to terms is the least probable.
“What happened in Parliament today is the continuation of the war. The new Government was close to being formed, but couldn’t be formed. The Liberal Democratic Party probably considered that it was the continuation of the war by other methods and took this card out of the sleeve. Today’s events are very dangerous, but they are like a fire that will clean the political sphere. I think that we are going towards early legislative elections,” stated Arcadie Barbarosie.
The analyst does not exclude a coalition between the Lib-Dems and the Communists. “I don’t think that the Communist Party is interested in common governance now when the opinion polls put it so high. But the reconciliation between the former components of the AEI is rather improbable. This war erected a serious barrier,” said Arcadie Barbarosie.
Political analyst Oazu Nantoi considers that the dismissal of Marian Lupu was revenge taken by the Lib-Dems because the agreement to constitute the new Government wasn’t respected. “I do not really care if they come to terms as their agreement resulted in flourishing corruption, degradation of the state, raider attacks, and the insolence of those from Transnistria,” he stated.
On April 25, when the new Government led by the Liberal-Democrat Vlad Filat was planned to be invested, the Democratic Speaker Marian Lupu was dismissed by the votes of 76 MPs.
