The Communist Party of Moldova (PCRM) mounts protests in order to hide the problems and fissures faced inside the party, the leader of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu and the chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat said in a program on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

“The protests are aimed at keeping the PCRM’s tonus and at hiding the party’s internal problems. A part of the Communist MPs are very radical, resort to insults and are ready to fight, but the others have an appropriate behavior. It is evident that there are different centers. I think it is also a new period for Vladimir Voronin, who no longer controls the party as earlier. These new phenomena make them act so as to hide the reality,” stated Marian Lupu.

The former Speaker also said that the protests are staged with the aim of hampering the plans before the Vilnius Summit, distracting the Government’s attention and destabilizing the internal situation. “But they have no chance as the stake is very high, not for a party or a person, but for Moldova,” added Marian Lupu.

Vlad Filat said the goal pursued by the Communists is to maintain the party’s tonus as they know they will not resist until next year because the people support Moldova’s European course.

Eight lawmakers left the PCRM after the November 2010 elections.
