Romania’s Prime Minister Ludovic Orban said in Brussels on Tuesday evening that what happened in Moldova after the removal of the Government of Maia Sandu is involution and requested the European officials to look at this situation with maximum circumspection, IPN reports, quoting RFE/ RL’s Moldovan Service.

“What happened in the Republic of Moldova is involution that generates concern and, from our viewpoint, we cannot consider the current Government a serious partner,” stated Orban, answering journalists’ questions.

Premier Orban explained that after the motion of no confidence against Maia Sandu was submitted, a government of the Socialists was formed, “without the only pro-European political force that enjoyed our support”. In the meeting with the European Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Oliver Varhelyi and with other European officials, the Romanian prime minister asked to look at the situation in Moldova with maximum circumspection and exigency.

Premier Ion Chicu said he has many other preoccupations than commenting on statements. “We have an action plan of the Government that must be implemented and the supreme objective of this is to align our country with the highest European standards. Do we have time to comment? Our undivided attention is directed at what our citizens think about what the government does and what it does not. My experience (fewer than 100 days as head of government) tells me that a serious government should adopt namely such an approach,” Premier Chicu stated for TVR Moldova.
