The Youth Organisation of the Liberal Party (OTPL) labels the actions of the former members of the party “an ungrounded calumny” ahead of the June 3 elections, Ion Ciobanu, the interim chairman of OTPL stated on May 28 in response to the accusations made recently by the former liberals concerning the dictatorship within the party.
According to the cited source, OTPL considers that these accusations were fabricated by another liberal party.
The members of the organisation said during the conference that the persons who left the party wanted to hold key posts in the party. They left the party because they were displeased that they did not obtain posts in the structures of the party and that they were not included among the first candidates in the list of candidates for the upcoming elections, the OTPL representatives added.
At the same time, the liberal members denied the accusations against the chairman of the party Mihai Ghimpu, which has allegedly instituted dictatorship within the party, and consider the accusations related to the departure of 69 young members as untrue.
A week ago, the former members of the party accused the leadership of the LP, in particular LP president Mihai Ghimpu that he instituted a dictatorship environment and that he makes all the decisions without consulting the Standing Bureau or the active members of the party. According to them, even the list of candidates for local councillors was made by LP president.
