Local referendum regarding revoking of the village’s mayor held in a village of Moldova

On 2 April 2006, in the village Filipeni, county Leova it will be held the local referendum regarding revoking village’s mayor. A decision in this sense was approved at the meeting of 28 February of the Central electoral Commission.
According to CEC chairman Eugeniu Stirbu, an initiative group of this village collected sufficient signatures regarding initiation of the referendum to revoke the mayor. The reason is that „this mayor does not comply with his basic commitments”.
There are necessary at least 10% of electors to require mayor’s dismissal, achieved condition, Stirbu mentioned.
Also on Tuesday it was decided to delegate for Kiev 3 CEC members, lead by Stirbu on 25-27 March, when parliamentary elections are held in Ukraine.
CEC also attributed counsellor mandates in many villages of Moldova.
