The local general elections will be monitored by 1823 observers, 242 of whom are international observers.
The majority of international observers – 182 are accredited on behalf of OSCE/ODIHR. 18 observers were accredited at the request of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of Europe, and 15 – on behalf of the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs.
The majority of national observers were accredited on behalf of the League for the Protection of Human Rights in Moldova – 1502. Other 19 were accredited on behalf of the “First Club of the Council of Europe” Association; 18 – on behalf of the National Women’s Studies and Information Centre “Partnership for Development” (CPD).
At the same time, 17 observers will represent the Helsinki Committee for the Human Rights in Moldova, and 11 – the European Academy of the Civil Society. Other 9 observers were accredited on behalf of Eurasia Foundation; 7 – ADEPT Association; 6 – the Centre for International Communication and Human Rights; 5 – on behalf of the Institute for Democracy and 4 – European Movement of Moldova.
In 2003, over 3 thousand poll-watchers were accredited for the local general elections.
