The local public authorities will receive 21 million lei for managing the flow of Ukrainian refugees, as the Commission for Exceptional Situations decreed. The Ministry of Finance will supplement the Government’s intervention fund for 2022 with 25 million lei from the humanitarian donations accumulated in the accounts opened to support the people of Ukraine, IPN reports.

The number of Ukrainian refugees in Moldova exceeds 100,000. More than 48,000 of these are children. In Moldova, there are 96 authorized placement centers, two emergency shelters and hotspot centers organized by the Ministry of the Interior. Many of the refugees were housed in pensions, hotels and homes of Moldovan citizens.

The Commission for Exceptional Situations also decided that the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development will transfer 225 million lei to SA “Energocom” in subsidies to cover the difference between the electricity rates for March 2022.

During the state of emergency, the Medicines and Medical Devices Agency can authorize licensed distributors from the Transnistrian region registered in the Republic of Moldova to import, distribute and use medicines that are not authorized in Moldova, but that were put on the National List of Essential Drugs intended for the residents of the Transnistrian region.
