Athlete Lilia Fisikovici broke Moldova’s record in marathon after a period of 27 years. She had such a performance in Ljubljana, IPN reports.

The athlete from Tiraspol covered the distance of 42 km and 195 m in 2 hours, 28 minutes and 26 seconds. The previous record was set by Tatiana Zueva, who achieved the result of 2:31.00 in Italy on October 27, 1991.

At the marathon in Slovenia, Lilia Fisikovici reached the finish line the sixth and was the first European athlete in the rankings, the top spots being occupied by African runners. As a result of this performance, Lilia became the ninth best female marathoner in Europe.
