The National Social Insurance Company CNAS advises beneficiaries of pensions established based on social security agreements with a number foreign countries of the requirement to produce so-called “life certificates”.
The countries involved are Bulgaria, Portugal, Romania, Luxembourg, Estonia, Czechia, Austria, Belgium, Poland, Hungary, Lithuania, Germany, Turkey and Belarus.
The pension is paid from the date of submission of the application for a period of 12 months, at the expiration of which the beneficiary is required to present in person or to send to the CNAS a life certificate.
If this is not done, the payment of the pension will be suspended starting with the month following the expiry of the 12 months’ period. After the life certificate is submitted, the payment of the pension is resumed from the date of suspension, for a period of 12 months from the date of its signing and authentication.
A life certificate is considered valid if it is signed by the beneficiary, authenticated by the relevant agency / authority on the territory of the state of domicile / residence, as well as sent in original by the applicant by land mail or through the relevant agency to CNAS .
