Liberals protest against Prosecutor's Office probing minors

The Youth Organization of the Liberal Party (PL) condemns the attempts of the Chisinau law-enforcement authorities to intimidate and sanction the Moldovan citizens expressing their discontent, disappointment with or criticize the Communists Party, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from the PL's communication unit. The young Liberals “regretfully remark” that the moves of the law-enforcement bodies are oriented against the youths openly and sincerely expressing their political opinions as to the domestic situation in the country. According to their communique, the actions started by the General Prosecutor's Office represent an open violation of article 10 of the European Convention of Human Rights and article 32 of the Moldovan Constitution concerning the freedom of speech. Under these circumstances, the PL's youth organization calls to a more active involvement on behalf of the civil society and institutions from Moldova and abroad to defend the human rights regarding the respect for the freedom of the speech. A number of adolescents are accused they used web forums to call to “to violently overthrow the constitutional regime and to liquidate the statehood and territorial integrity of Moldova.”
