The Liberal Party (PL) calls on the Parliament to condemn the communist soviet regime and start an international lawsuit to condemn the communism, to build a monument in memory of the persons who were killed by the communist soviet occupation regime, to inform the general public about the crimes committed by the communist regime, including by means TV shows. The chairman of the party, Mihai Ghimpu said at a press conference that the PL welcomes the condemnation by Traian Basescu of the Romanian communist regime, fact that proved that Romania is a truly democratic country, which fully deserves its place in the united family of the European Union. Also, PL appreciates the decision of the Parliament in Kiev, which recognised that the extermination of people through hunger during the domination of Stalin was genocide against the Ukrainian people. The Liberals regret that the Communist Party of Moldova, despite its pro-European statements and democratic speeches, refuses to condemn the communist soviet totalitarian regime that was fighting the intelligentsia, priests, the wealthy people of the free market, regime which exterminated through murders, hunger, deportations, collectivisation of thousands of persons and which launched again, along with the entrance on the political scene of the government party PCRM in 2001, the strategies aimed at repressing all the proponents for democracy, freedom and historical truth. According to Mihai Ghimpu, instead of building monuments in memory of the citizens killed by the soviet regime, the communist government continues to build monuments for those who occupied us and used terror methods during all the occupation period. PL considers that as long as the PCRM is not condemning the crimes committed by the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, this party will bear the stigma of the inhuman and odious past of the totalitarian past of the USSR.
