The Liberal Party is fielding Ion Purice, one of its vice presidents, as its candidate for Chisinau mayor.

“Just like in 2007, when the Liberals took power in Chisinau, in the Council and in the City Hall with Dorin Chirtoacă and gave it a Romanian leitmotif, a motif of truth and justice, today we want to do this again. However, after Dorin Chirtoacă was illegally removed from the office of general mayor, things have changed. We have had mayors with narrow interests, puppet mayors, not mayors of the people”, declared Mihai Ghimpu, honorary LP president.

According to him, Ion Purice is an energetic, disciplined young man, with good managerial skills. A doctor by profession, Purice previously served as deputy director of Municipal Hospital no. 4, and currently runs the Cărpineni Hospital.

For his part, the PL candidate said that he knows Chisinau’s problems very well. “Chisinau must become a capital for the people again, it must become a Romanian citadel again, where the mayor works for the people and puts in all the effort for the entire municipality of Chisinau, the city and the suburbs”, declared Ion Purice.

To date, three parties have announced their candidates for Chisinau mayor. The Action and Solidarity Party nominated MP Lilian Carp, the vice president of PAS; the Dignity and Truth Party fielded Victor Chironda, a former deputy mayor of Chisinau; and the Coalition for Unity and Welfare CUB nominated Ion Bulgac, president of the CUB youth organization.
