A group of young persons from the Moldovan Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) on Saturday staged, what they called, a flash-mob outside the Parliament building to say goodbye to the outgoing legislature, Info-Prim Neo reports. The youths imitated the coalition that dominated the parliament in the last four years – 56 persons representing the Communist MPs and 7 persons representing the Christian-Democratic MPs stood side by side, with red ribbons tied to their necks, held at the other end by a man in a mask representing President Vladimir Voronin. The man in the mask would then pull the strings once in a while, having the tied persons raise their hands in a a gesture of voting. The number ended when another group of youths wearing PLDM signs and armed with brooms came and 'swept away' the 63 mock MPs. “Today, March 7, the term of the current legislature expires. Instead of being a lawmaking forum, a platform for debates, it has become, as we believe, a docile voting machine in the hands of President Voronin”, George Mocanu, a young man running for an MP's seat on PLDM's ticket at number 25, told the reporters who came to see the event. Mocanu said the outgoing parliament adopted laws contradicting the human rights. “Examples of such legislation are the law barring the holders of dual citizenship from public offices, the law that transformed the prosecutors into repression instruments, the law that enabled the Service of Information and Security to check the holders and candidates for public offices”, said Mocanu.
