The Moldova leu last month appreciated by 1.3% on average against the U.S. dollar to 18.7924 USD/MDL, as against 19.0482 USD/MDL in January, IPN reports.
The National Bank of Moldova said the degree of covering the net foreign currency demand from business entities by the net foreign currency supply from private individuals in February was 94.6%, as opposed to 143.4% in January.
The net foreign currency supply from private individuals decreased by US$ 97.3 million (-41.4%), while the net foreign currency demand from business entities declined by US$18.3 million (-11.2%). The central bank in the first half of February intervened in the local interbank market by making net purchases totaling US$12.0 million.
