Leu falls against Euro – experts

The leu vs. the dollar exchange rate will stay stable during this year and will oscillate around 13 lei per dollar. Nevertheless, the leu is going to fall against the euro to reach 17 – 17.5 lei per euro. These are the forecasts of the economic analyst Veaceslav Ionitsa. The leu’s fall against the euro represents a positive phenomenon for the R. Moldova, in the analyst’s opinion, as long as Moldovan incomes are depending on a large scale on the euro. Even if the euro-dollar stability is considered to be inefficient in exports, Ionitsa believes that this is irrelevant due to small amounts of Moldovan exports. The analyst states that at the moment Moldova especially needs to import technological goods and equipments, which gain value in case of a stronger leu compared to the dollar. “We need a strong currency in order to have a strong economy”, the analyst added.
