The Government has approved amendments to the legislation on the activity of notaries, IPN reports.

One amendment bans notaries from swapping territorial jurisdictions. It is also proposed that notaries are officially sworn in before the President of the Notaries’ Chamber, in addition to the Licensing Commission and the Minister of Justice.

The extraordinary meeting of the General Assembly of Notaries may also be convened by the President of the Notaries’ Chamber.

A provision is added that offers the members of the Council of the Notaries’ Chamber an allowance for every sitting equivalent to one third of the average salary per economy, but not more than for three sittings per month. This will be paid by the Notaries’ Chamber. At the same time, the draft stipulates that notaries be liable to disciplinary action if they are absent from two consecutive meetings of the General Assembly of Notaries or of another collegiate body in which they were elected, appointed or delegated.

The draft law will be submitted to Parliament for adoption.
