240 professors from higher education institutions in Moldova have started English language courses to be able to teach foreign students. The State Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Research, Adriana Cazacu, stated that upcoming investments aim to enhance the international competitiveness of Moldovan universities, including through the development of foreign-language programs and faculty training, IPN reports.

The training sessions include professors from Moldova State University, the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, the Technical University of Moldova, and "Ion Creanga" State Pedagogical University.

The course curriculum is designed to develop fundamental skills such as listening comprehension, speaking, reading comprehension, proper writing, and conversational interaction. The training is supported by the "Higher Education in Moldova" project, implemented by the Ministry of Education and Research and funded by the World Bank.

State Secretary Adriana Cazacu emphasized in a press release that the internationalization of Moldova’s higher education system is a priority for the authorities to increase foreign students' access to university programs in Moldova.

In addition to strengthening university faculty’s ability to teach study programs, four new curriculum resources will be developed, and 12 undergraduate study programs will be translated into English. Furthermore, a platform will be developed to promote Moldova’s educational offerings internationally. Nearly one million euros will be allocated for this initiative under the "Higher Education in Moldova" project.
