The Vilnius Summit will remain in Moldova’s history as a solid and valuable basis in building the European future, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said in a meeting with his Lithuanian counterpart Algirdas Butkevicius. He invited the Lithuania official to pay a visit to Chisinau in the first half of 2014, IPN reports.

Iurie Leanca said that the year 2013 is crucial for Moldova both at internal level and in the context of the regional policy for achieving substantial objectives in the cooperation with the EU. Algirdas Butkevicius congratulated the Government of Moldova for the fact that the European Commission on November 27 proposed liberalizing the visa regime for Moldovans, and for the accomplishments that made possible the initialing of the Association Agreement with the EU at the Vilnius EaP Summit.

In Vilnius, Iurie Leanca had a meeting with the Greek Premier Antonis Samaras, who confirmed the readiness of Greece to include the abolition of visas for Moldovans in the priorities of its EU presidency. The two heads of Government pleaded for the exchange of bilateral visits next year, at the level of Prime Ministers.

In a meeting of Iurie Leanca and the President of the European Investment Bank Werner Hoyer, the interlocutors discussed the projects implemented by the Moldovan authorities and referred to the projects to modernize road infrastructure. The works will start in April 2014 and there will be created 2,000 workplaces. The officials also discussed the projects implemented in agriculture and the energy sector. Hoyer said he will pay a visit to Moldova next February.
