MP Iurie Leanca insists that the law offering public funding to political parties should be postponed. The president of the European People's Party (PPEM) wrote on his FB page the economic situation in our country demands this.

“In October 2015, the PPEM group initiated a motion to postpone the Law, which regretfully wasn't supported by a majority of our colleagues in Parliament. I'm convinced that today this proposal is as necessary as ever”, writes the politician.

Iurie Leanca says the difficult situation currently facing Moldova makes him revisit this subject and further insist that the law should be postponed. “Moreover, the lack of an effective and transparent supervision mechanism raises serious doubts as to the morality of using public money to finance parties”.

Earlier this week, the Central Election Commission approved a mechanism of rewarding political parties for their electoral scores in the latest polls. In particular, it was decided that the participating parties would monthly get 1.11 leu for each vote received in the 2014 legislative elections and 0.47 leu for each vote in the 2015 local elections. Independent candidates were left out.
