The leaders of the parties that formed the Pro-European Coalition are proud that Moldova managed to initial the Associating Agreement with the EU at the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius. Immediately after the completion of the initialing procedure, they told the journalists that they must work as hard in continuation so as to fulfill the other commitments made to the European partners as well as to the country and the people, IPN’s correspondent at the summit reports.
The chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat said he has a strong feeling of contentment. “It is an important stage that we all covered and I congratulate all the citizens on this nice accomplishment. It is certain that we have a clear European prospect from today. We must continue to work responsibly, as in the last four years, so as to benefit from what the EU can offer,” said the Liberal-Democratic chairman.
According to Vlad Filat, by the initialing of the Associations Agreement with the EU, which provides for the creation of the Free Trade Area, Moldova showed that it is able to implement large-scale projects designed to modernize the country. The initialing of this document showed that Moldova has a European future and the ability to completely fulfill its commitments. “It is a great victory of Moldova,” said the Liberal-Democratic leader.
The head of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu said the atmosphere in Vilnius is positive and full of hope. The event marks the successful culmination of the efforts made during many years. A new stage in the European integration relations starts today. Now that the accord was initialed, Moldova will be trusted more.
The Democratic leader sent a message to the opposition in Chisinau, saying they should consistently follow the line of the priorities of the internal and external policy of Moldova, which centers on the European integration.
The leader of the Liberal reformers Ion Hadarca said he had a feeling of pride when the European officials permanently made reference to Moldova and Georgia in their speeches. “We are very proud, but we now assumed more commitments to follow this course. It was a significant moment for history,” he stated.
