The leaders of Parliamentary Parties are satisfied by the meeting they had with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. In the press statements, after the meeting, they mentioned that the visit of the high-ranking official to Chisinau is extremely important. PCRM leader Vladimir Voronin, whose attendance was not certain until the last moment, handed the German Chancellor a letter which, he says, refers to the disastrous situation in Moldova, reports Info-Prim Neo.
“We talked about the situation in the country; how we see it, how they see it. I told her that everything is under mafia’s rule, everything is corrupted, even the supreme power of the State. Additionally, I told her that the Parliament is not legal and handed her a letter that explains everything. I don’t expect any reactions, I simply want her to know how we see the situation and be informed”, told Vladimir Voronin to the journalists. Unlike the AIE leaders, Vladimir Voronin does not see the visit of the German Chancellor as an historic one. “If nothing is signed, then it’s not an historic visit. It is important, because we know Germany’s role within the EU”, mentioned the PCRM leader.
PDM leader Marian Lupu mentioned that the meeting with Angela Merkel approached the entire spectrum of issues related to bilateral relations, the Transnistrian conflict, and others. “It is a visit that carries a strong economic load, for I expect us to experience an increase in the investment source for creating new jobs. I highly appreciate the political and financial assistance, the technologies for economic and social development, as well as the development of the European path. The subject of the Transnistrian settlement has also been touched, and we have a common vision: both parties said that is not an ethnic conflict, but one that has emerged form a geopolitical context”, stated Marian Lupu. The PDM leader added that Angela Merkel’s visit is the European voice for encouraging the following of the European path. Marian Lupu gave the German Chancellor a picture of a group of children from a Child Care Center.
PL leader Mihai Ghimpu told the journalists that he thanked the German Chancellor for support, and discussed about the citizens of Moldova, who deserve a decent living after wars, deportations, and gulags. “I told her that we face problems that we hadn’t solved, which are impossible to solve without support. We have problems that are out the hands of the Moldovan power, such as the example of the Russian army, which must leave the territory of Moldova. Without support we will not solve them. This are on the move, we thanked her, and bet on walking the European path till the end”, stated the PL leader.
PLDM leader Vlad Filat did not participate at the meeting, since he had an earlier tête-à-tête meeting with Angela Merkel.
