Micăuți Quarry is ready to cooperate with all the responsible bodies and to present all the necessary documents so as to prove that it works legally. Lawyer Andrei Iosip requested the commission of inquiry into the method of exploiting useful minerals and other state institutions involved in the monitoring and control of the quarry’s economic activity to ensure the participation of representatives of the quarry in the elucidation of all the important circumstances, which were examined by the parliamentary commission of inquiry constituted following a petition filed by company manager Dumitru Ciobu.

In a news conference at IPN, the lawyer called on MP Nicolae Ciubuc to reassess his role of head of the parliamentary commission, to ensure transparency in the meetings of the commission and defend the legal interests of all the involved subjects and to also refrain from making unfounded accusations against Micăuți Quarry.

Andrei Iosip said citizen Dumitru Ciobu, in concert with other persons, in June 2019 started an illegal campaign to block the activity of Micăuți Quarry so as to obtain undeserved pecuniary benefits. In September 2019, Dumitru Ciobu worked as vice director of Micăuți Quarry, being hired by the insolvency manager. In the period, he spent particular sums of money unjustifiably, reduced the selling prices of products and considerably diminished the company’s revenues. These and other actions of former directors brought the company to insolvency.

Over these circumstances, the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases started a criminal case against Dumitru Ciobu and his company SRL “Ex-Stone”.

Andrei Iosip noted his statements can be confirmed by employees of Micăuți Quarry, by notes and other documents that he can provide to the investigation body and other responsible authorities on request.
