Instead of fighting crime, some of the representatives of the law enforcement bodies of Moldova commit abuses. They ask for money from persons involved in criminal cases. The accusations were made by lawyer Vitalie Taulean, who said that he witnessed dozens of cases showing this.
In a news conference at IPN, the lawyer said that he now represents the interests of a man, who is the father of six children. A criminal case was fabricated against him. The Prosecutor General’s Office and the Supreme Council of Magistrates mainly protect the prosecutors and judges, who escape punishment when they commit abuses and violations.
According to the lawyer, his client had a conflict with a person who contracted him to build a house. This person expressed his dissatisfaction with the quality of the performed works and submitted a calumnious complaint, accusing him of theft. Though this is a case of contractual relations, which are regulated by the Civil Code, a criminal case was groundlessly started against his client.
Vitalie Taulean said the owner of the constructed house must be held accountable for calumny, while the representatives of the law enforcement bodies for professional negligence. But, in Moldova it’s impossible to see prosecutors, police officers or judges who consciously commit abuses being punished.
The lawyer also said that any citizen can become the victim of abuses by the law enforcement bodes, for which nobody sis held accountable. Namely by such abuses, the representatives of the law enforcement bodes come into possession of luxury cars and property.
