Ombudsman Anatolie Munteanu challenged in the Constitutional Court the legality of the law by which an age limit of 35 is set for persons who want to study for a doctor’s degree on a budget-funded place in full-time education, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué of the Center for Human Rights of Moldova, the ombudsman also asked to examine the constitutionality of the legal norm on the age limit of 45 for persons who want to study for a bachelor’s degree at the Public Administration Academy under the President of Moldova.
Anatolie Munteanu considers that the mentioned provisions run counter to the principle of equality before the law and infringe the right to education, which is guaranteed by the supreme law and by international treaties ratified by Moldova.
