Today is the last day of campaigning for the new mayoral elections that will be held in seven localities this Sunday, November 17, IPN reports.
The Central Election Commission warned that on Saturday and Sunday the election contenders cannot appear in on TV or radio shows. Also, the local public authorities and advertising broadcasters are obliged to remove electoral advertising materials. The ban does not apply to information that had already been posted on the internet.
At the same time, election contestants cannot make transfers to/from the "Electoral Fund" account.
Campaigning on election day and on the day preceding it constitutes an administrative offence that is punished with a fine of 2,000 to 3,000 lei in the case of individuals and of 5,000 to 7,500 lei in the case of legal entities.
A total of 25,242 ballots are being prepared for this Sunday's elections, of which 20,195 ballots will be in Romanian and 5,047 in Russian.
New local elections this Sunday will take place in Căușeni town of Căușeni district, Iliciovca commune of Florești district, Boșcana commune of Criuleni district, Arionesti village of Dondușeni district, Antonești commune of Cantemir district, Clocușna village of Ocnița district, and Popeștii de Jos village of Drochia district.
