LADOM launches project to monitor parliamentary elections in 2009

The League for Defense of Human Rights in Moldova (LADOM) launches a project on monitoring the parliamentary elections in 2009, within the civic Coalition for free and correct elections - Coalition 2009, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The non-governmental organization will monitor the electoral processes in the pre-electoral, electoral and post-electoral periods by means of 6 coordinators, 37 long-term supervisors and 2000 short-term supervisors.
The LADOM experts will monitor the possible violations of the electoral legislations, will verify the way the electoral lists will be worked out, forming the constituencies , registering and the electoral rivals’ behavior, as well as the way of administering the elections, unfolding the electoral campaign, the situation of the media in the elections, etc, reads the organization’s release.
The League will present public reports regarding the pre-electoral period, the electoral campaign, the election’s day and the post-electoral period. Supervising the electoral process happens on the basis of the international-level standards, stipulated in the supervisor‘s Behavior Code and in Moldova’s electoral Code.
Coalition 2009 was launched on November 18, 2008. It is formed by a number of non-governmental organizations, which have the purpose to continue the activities promoting free and correct elections, started by Coalition 2005 and 2007.
