A lack of quorum was ascertained in Parliament after the MPs of the Party of Socialists and the For Moldova platform, which includes the MPs of the Shor Party, left the assembly hall. They said they do not want to take part in the examination of the government program and the Cabinet proposed by candidate for Prime Minister Igor Grosu, IPN reports.

Socialist MP Vlad Batrîncea said the consultations held by President Maia Sandu were mimicked and weren’t really aimed at identifying support for this Government. “We do not want to take part in this game and decided to leave the assembly hall,” said the MP, noting the Socialists will return to the hall after these issues are debated.

The secretary of the parliamentary group of the Shor Party Marina Tauber stated that For Moldova does not want to take part in this show and circus of bad taste.

Pro Moldova leader Andrian Candu said the witnessed developments are regrettable as they are unable to discuss a genuine government program. These political games are cynical in relation to the people.

Speaker Zinaida Grechanyi noted there were only 43 MPs in the hall and a quorum was not present. As the Socialists said they will return to the hall to take part in the examination of the other issues from the agenda, a break was announced until 11:30pm.

The MPs were to discuss the government program proposed by Igor Grosu and to consider whether to give a vote of confidence to the Cabinet suggested by him or not.

This is the second attempt to vote in the Government. If it fails, Parliament is dissolved and snap parliamentary elections are called.
