A group of 13 functionaries of the Apparatus of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan (Jogorku Kenes) has been in Chisinau and studied the structure of the Apparatus of the Moldovan Parliament, the activity of the parliamentary commissions and groups and how the plenary meetings are organised and held.
The visit of the Kyrgyz functionaries is part of a series of visits to the Parliaments from the post-Soviet space elected under the party-list system. The Parliament of Moldova is considered the legislative body with the richest experience of working with parliamentarians elected under party lists.
At a meeting with the Kyrgyz delegation, Deputy Speaker Maria Postoico said that one of the most important functions of the Moldovan Parliament it to check how the legislation is implemented. She stressed that the Parliament organises public parliamentary hearings on issues concerning the sectors that play a key role in developing the society.
Parliamentary elections will take place in Kyrgyzstan on December 16 following a national referendum to be held there in October. The referendum participants voted for a new version of the Constitution, according to which the Kyrgyz parliamentarians will be elected on the basis of party lists.
