Know candidates in your constituency! No. 20: Strășeni, Orhei

Constituency No. 20: Strășeni, Orhei includes Strășeni town and another 18 localities of Strășeni district and four localities of Orhei district. The electors there will vote at polling places No. 20/1-20/41. The candidate who wins the largest number of votes in a single-member constituency, regardless of the voter turnout, becomes the winner.

The Democratic Party’s candidate Pavel Filip, an engineer by profession, is the top candidate on the list. He serves as the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova and the first vice president of the Democratic Party. In 2011-2016, Pavel Filip held the post of Minister of Information and Communication Technology, while in 2008-2011 that of director general of SA “TUTUN-CTC". In 2009-2010, he was a member of the Board of the National Employers Confederation, while in 2001-2008 he was director general of SA “Bucuria”. For January 1, 2017 – December 27, 2018, the candidate declared over 1 million lei salary and rental. Pavel Filip owns ten pieces of land, two houses, a building and also a car. He is a shareholder of SA “Bucuria”.

The Party of Socialists’ candidate Veaceslav Anghel, a jurist by profession, is under No. 2. He works as a jurist at SRL “Excluiv Media”. Veaceslav Anghel heads the Strășeni Local Organization of the PSRM and is a member of this party’s National Council. For January 1, 2017 – December 26, 2018, he declared over 109,000 lei salary and over 3,000 lei in allowances. The candidate owns a piece of farmland, an apartment and two cars. He is the founder and manager of two limited liability companies.

The Shor Party’s candidate Valeriu Tabacaru, an economist by profession, takes the third spot. He has served as the president of the Strășeni Local Organization of the Shor Party since July 2018. For January 1, 2017 – December 31, 2018, the candidate declared over 69,000 lei salary and over 16,000 lei earned from other sources. He owns a car and two pieces of land.

The candidate of the electoral bloc ACUM DA PAS Igor Grosu, a teacher of history and currently secretary general of the Party “Action and Solidarity”, is under No. 4. Igor Grosu served as deputy minister of education in  2012-2015 and as senior state adviser on education, science, health and social problems. For January 1, 2017 – December 31, 2018, he declared over 446,000 lei earned at his main post and about €1,000 lei from selling a car. The family also gained over 237,000 lei, €400 and over 6,000 Romanian lei from other sources. The family possesses four pieces of farmland, an apartment, a commercial area and a car.

The Liberal Party’s candidate Nicoleta Malai, a jurist by profession, comes fifth. She is the mayor of Ghelăuza village of Strășeni district. For January 1, 2017 – December 31, 2018, the candidate declared over 55,000 lei salary and 10,000 lei in award. She owns an apartment and a house.
