Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis arrived in Chisinau and was welcomed by Maia Sandu at the Presidential Palace. After the presidential brass band played the anthems of Romania and the Republic of Moldova, the two presidents greeted the Guard of Honor and went inside for bilateral talks.

The discussion will take place behind closed doors. Later, Maia Sandu and Klaus Iohannis will hold a press conference. This will be preceded by the signing of a joint Declaration on bilateral cooperation to strengthen the resilience of the Republic of Moldova.

“The joint declaration on bilateral cooperation to strengthen the resilience of the Republic of Moldova defines and strengthens bilateral cooperation in this vital area for the consolidation and protection of democracy and the stability of the Republic of Moldova”, stated Iohannis’s Office before the visit.

After the conference, the two presidents will head to the Classics Alley in Chisinau’s central park to lay flowers at the bust of the poet Mihai Eminescu in a tribute to the Romanian Language Day, celebrated today in both Moldova and Romania.
