President Klaus Iohannis, in a meeting with the Prime Minister of Moldova Dorin Recean, reaffirmed Romania’s commitment to offer assistance in the transformation, modernization and reform processes in the spirit of the bilateral strategic partnership for the European integration of the Republic of Moldova, based on the common language, culture and history. For his part, Dorin Recean said that the Republic of Moldova and Romania have special relations that become stronger each day, IPN reports.

The Romanian presidential administration said that Klaus Iohannis underlined the necessity of creating the conditions needed for attracting Romanian investments and improving the business climate. He stressed the multidimensional assistance offered by Romania to Moldova, including for managing the experienced crisis situations.

Dorin Recean approved of Romania’s prompt reaction to Moldova’s needs, noting the support that always amplified the authorities’ response to crises. “The Republic of Moldova and Romania have special relations that become stronger each day, while Romania’s experience in the process of joining the European Union is of great assistance. We hope we will manage to make progress faster so that we open the accession negotiations with the EU by the end of this year and join the big European family as soon as possible,” stated the Moldovan official, being quoted by the Government’s press service.

The Premier also said that Romania remains the most important economic partner of the Republic of Moldova and the main market for Moldovan products.
