Kindergarten in Gradiște renovated with Romania’s financial support

The children in Gradiște village of Cimișlia district will attend the freshly repaired and modernized local kindergarten “Alunelul”. The project implemented in Gradiște is one of the over 1,100 projects to renovate kindergartens and schools in the Republic of Moldova with financial support from the Government of Romania, Romania’s Ambassador in Chisinau Daniel Ioniță stated in the inauguration of the institution.

“We understood that the direct beneficiaries of this kindergarten are 217 persons – attending children and parents and educators (...) We will further remain as committed to being near you on the path to the EU and, as long as you continue on this road, our support for you can increase considerably,” said the Romanian diplomat, being quoted in a press release of the Embassy of Romania.

The executed works included façade insulation, building of external sewerage networks, territorial development, repair of the cooking facilities. “I wish everyone, in particular the direct beneficiaries of this nice building, to take care of this building and be sure that Romania, the local authorities and the central authorities cooperated, combined forces to make sure that you have a kindergarten that meets the European standards. It is in your direct interest to protect what you have and don’t forget who helped you in hard times,” stated Daniel Ioniță.

Mayor of Gradiște Nina Nisteanu has told IPN that 500,000 lei was allocated by the Romanian side in 2014 for purchasing furniture and tools for the cooking facilities. In 2020, the Government of Romania allocated 800,000 lei for renovation works. Both of the investments were made through the agency of the Moldova Social Investment Fund. The mayor’s office contributed to the project even if this wasn’t mandatory. It allocated about 400,000 lei – 248,000 lei for replacing the electrics in the building of the former secondary school, which was transferred under the management of the kindergarten and the rest of the sum for executing designing and internal repair works where the money provided by the Romanian side wasn’t enough.

“We are satisfied. The kindergarten in our locality is a modern institution that offers very good conditions to our children,” stated Nina Nistrean.
