Parents whose children attend kindergartens in are dissatisfied with the higher food bills. In autumn, the food bills at kindergartens were 180-190 lei on average a month, while for January and February they rose to 300 lei.
The acting head of the Chisinau Municipal Council’s General Division of Education Youth and Sport Andrei Pavaloi explained that the rise in due to the extension of the parents’ contribution from 8.75 lei to 10.50 lei as a result of the increase in food prices.
“As from March 1, the sum was raised by order of the Ministry of Finance. Under this, the parents pay 10.50 lei/day, 21 lei is allocated from the state budget, while 3 lei is allotted from the municipal budget and the total sum rises to 34.50 lei a day,” said Andrei Pavaloi, being quoted by IPN.
In the municipality of Chisinau, there are 1,486 early education establishments.
The National Bureau of Statistics said that food prices in February grew by 23.32%. Vegetable prices rose the most, by 67.3%. The prices of eggs increased by 43.6%, of vegetal oil by 24.5%, of bread by 20.2%, of meat and meat products by 17%.
