The torrential rain in June did damage evaluated at over 16 million lei to the agricultural sector. According to the local commissions for emergencies, the most serious damage was caused in the districts of Comrat, Vulcanesti, Telenesti, Sangerei, Edinet and Causeni, IPN reports.
The General Inspectorate for Emergencies said the heavy rain affected almost 400 hectares of vineyards, 280 hectares of orchards, over 600 hectares of corn, 421 hectares of wheat, over 200 hectares of barley, 200 hectares of rape and 145 hectares of gardens.
The rain also destroyed four bridges and about 7 km of roads.
