June 13 deportations to be commemorated in Chisinau

Prime Minister Vlad Filat ordered staging events to commemorate the victims of the Stalinist deportations of June 13, 1941, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Premier instructed Minister of Culture Boris Focsa to cooperate with the local authorities in erecting a memorial complex in front of the Railway Terminal in Chisinau. If more money is needed, it will be allocated from the executive's reserve fund, Vlad Filat said. On June 13, it will be 69 years of the Stalinist deportations, when more than 20,000 persons were forced to leave the country. On July 6, it will be 61 years of the second wave of the deportations of 1949, when over 40,000 people were deported.
