Over the past 12 months, Romanian historian Antoniu Martin has made a journalistic approach in Italy to promote the Republic of Moldova. “I considered it opportune to contribute to the familiarization of the Italian citizens with the realities and challenges faced by this country, especially in the context generated by the war in Ukraine. That’s why I published articles, especially on geopolitical themes, in which I tried to emphasize really relevant aspects from this perspective,” said Antoniu Martin, being quoted by IPN.

The Romanian historian promoted his line by articles written for publications that are representative for the sector of foreign policy and international relations, such as “Giornale Diplomatico”, “Notizie Geopolitiche”, “Expertibus”, “Roma Giornale Sera”, “TV 7 Avellino”, “Qotidiano Sociale”, “Sicilia Uno News”, “Metis News”, “Notiziario Estero”, etc. The articles primarily presented the situation in the Republic of Moldova in the context generated by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

“I primarily insisted on the remarkable, globally appreciated solidarity of the Moldovan citizens with the Ukrainian refugees. Among the themes addressed by the historian Antoniu Martin in the Italian press are the pro-active and pro-European diplomatic service of the Republic of Moldova, European institutions’ decisions to grant the EU candidate status to this country, the significant support of the Western community offered through the Support Platform for the Republic of Moldova and also the Chisinau authorities’ firm decision  to continue the modernization reforms despite the Russian Federation’s attempts to stop the pro-Western approach,” stated Antoniu Martin.

“During almost a year of systematic publishing in the Italian press and of publication of articles about the Republic of Moldova, I have seen a very good feedback on the part of cultural and journalistic communities of the peninsula. This fact can say something about the impact of my initiatives and offers me motivation to go on.”
