The City Hall of Chisinau and Targoviste municipalities have signed a protocol of intentions, within the framework of the “Chisinau’s Days in Targoviste”. They pledged to multiply the connections and relations between the two local public administrations with a view to promoting the common interests and image of the two communities, to affirming the values and development projects. The two municipalities committed themselves to find and prepare conditions for opening a certain stable facility that could host centers for promotion of interested economic agents and nongovernmental organizations in Chisinau and Targoviste.
The interim mayor of Chisinau Vasile Ursu told the press that he reached an agreement with the mayor of Targoviste Iulian Furcoiu regarding the opening in the Romanian town of a joint shop where the economic agents participating in the event, including “Aroma”, “Franzeluţa”, “Bucuria”, could sell their products. The poet Iulian Filip also proposed, during a meeting at the Dambovita County Council, that books of Moldovan writers are brought to the shop in Targoviste along with the trade exchanges between the commercial companies.
Chisinau and Targoviste have established cultural relations back in 1991, when the “Targoviste” Library was opened in Chisinau and was initiated “Crizantema de argint” Festival (Silver Chrysanthemum) - “the sister” of the “Gold Chrysanthemum” from Targoviste. Mayor Iulian Furcoiu said that to maintain and develop these relations, they must be substantiated with economic exchanges. According to him, they will facilitate the access of economic agents from Chisinau to the European market, taking into account the Romania’s adhesion to the European Union on 1 January 2007.
The two municipalities committed themselves to organize in partnership the XI edition of the “Silver Chrysanthemum” Festival in February 2007 and to support exchanges between the schools from the two municipalities during the school year and holidays.
“Chisinau’s Days in Targoviste” have been held in the period of 19-23 October currently. The first edition of the “Targoviste’s Days in Chisinau” will take place in spring next year.
