The Political Party "Partidul Nostru" capital mayoral hopeful, Ivan Diacov, said that the former Republican Stadium, situated in the center of Chișinău, should be transformed into a multifunctional park, especially for children and youth. Ivan Diacov said that this park could be built according to the Disneyland park model. In his opinion, foreign investors should be involved in the construction of the park. The mayoral hopeful expressed his views in the TVC21 program "Candidat".
According to Ivan Diacov, the United States of America, that wants to claim the land in order to build a new embassy in the capital, should operate the construction works of this multifunctional park. "I believe that the image of the US will skyrocket and remain very positive for centuries in Moldova", said the candidate.
According to the mayoral hopeful, the new US embassy could be moved to the current headquarters of the General Prosecutor's Office. The candidate said that the prosecutors should return to their old headquarters situated on Mitropolitul Bănulescu-Bodoni street, which was allocated an additional 5000 square meter building and received 22 million lei for repair works from the government. "Let the prosecutors go back, repair, catch bandits, return the billion and live happily. On the other hand, the US Embassy should be situated in the center of Chișinău. You have to think rationally about the interest of Moldova", said Diacov.
In July last year, the Filip government issued a decision by which the land of the former Republican Stadium was to be transferred for the construction of the new United States Embassy in Chișinău. Subsequently, Prime Minister Maia Sandu said that the parliamentary majority does not have a final decision on this subject. Additionally, the prime minister added that 35% of the Republican Stadium former territory belong to some economic agents.
