Igor Fraihman, a close friend of the Luncașu family, claims that the psycho-emotional state of Iurii Luncașu, found shot last week, was greatly affected by the information circulated in mass media. Taking this into consideration, as well as the nervous system disorder that he suffered from, the businessman’s family does not exclude the version of his being driven to suicide. In a press conference, Igor Fraihman, who mentioned that he had been friends with Luncașu for about 40 years, said he made the statements not only on his behalf, but also on Luncașu's family, IPN reports.
According to him, the family and relatives of Iurii Luncașu are in shock and cannot make statements. Igor Fraihman mentioned that, even after this tragedy, there was much speculation and misinformation in the media, which cannot be left unanswered. Some media have published and continue to publish, either intentionally or not, incorrect or unverified data that denigrates Iurii Luncașu’s name.
“Iurii was always a modest man. He started his career in 1987 and the business he developed was not created as a result of illegal scams or schemes. He was a very good and loyal man. A good friend and devoted family member. He never held any political office nor had any political ambitions. He has always tried to be on good terms with everyone. He also did charity, but he never displayed it, " Igor Fraihman said.
Regarding the information published in the press, Igor Fraihman said that Iurii Luncașu's wife was no relative of Vlad Plahotniuc. According to him, the information that Iurii Luncașu was a KGB collaborator is also false. It is not true either that at Iurii Luncașu’s residence were organized parties attended by all kinds of influential people.
Igor Fraihman also said that Iurii Luncașu, for more than 20 years, had suffered from multiple sclerosis, a neurological condition. "I am not a doctor, but I think that stress worsened his health. Over the last period, unjustified attacks on him appeared in some media, which greatly affected his physical and psycho-emotional state. He was really worried about these publications, ” Igor Fraihman noted. According to him, there was no professional or financial pressure, which could have led to these tragic consequences.
"We consider that the pressure from certain media to which he was subjected, the innuendos appeared in the media and in the public space have greatly impacted his emotional state. We are ready to work with law enforcement bodies to ensure a fully transparent process. We cannot give a legal qualification to what happened, but we cannot exclude, considering also his psycho-emotional state of the last period and his worsening medical condition, the fact that he was driven to suicide”, Igor Fraihman declared.
Businessman Iurii Luncașu passed away on August 17 from a gunshot wound. Law enforcement officers were alerted about the incident that occurred on road R6, at around 20.07. The Police Inspectorate operative group and forensic medicine specialists, were met at the scene by the man who reported the incident at 112. His name is Boris Babin and he was the victim's driver. Although at first a suicide version has been made public, subsequently, both the interim Prosecutor General and the Minister of Internal Affairs stated that a criminal case for murder would be initiated.
