Ex-Premier Iurie Leanca will be suggested for heading the parliamentary group in the dialogue on the association agenda with the European Union, Head of Parliament Andrian Candu stated in the talk show “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1. He said he regrets that Iurie Leanca is no longer Prime Minister, but voiced hope that this will play an important role in Parliament as well, IPN reports.
“First of all, I regret that Iurie Leanca no longer holds the post of Prime Minister as, even if we worked together for a relatively short period of time, I found in him the understanding and courage needed to commence important things, not speaking about his support and image as a professional with integrity. But I hope that as an MP, he will also play an important role. I will propose him for the post of head of the parliamentary group in the dialogue on the association agenda with the European Union,” stated Andrian Candu.
He expressed his confidence that the colleagues from the Liberal Democratic Party and all the members of Parliament will vote Iurie Leanca for this post. “I hope we will not lose such an important source for the state interests as he has the experience of a Prime Minister and a foreign minister and I’m sure that we will be able to use his experience and expertise at parliamentary level too,” said the Speaker.
The Liberal Democratic Party fielded another candidate for premiership after the Leanca II Government didn’t garner the votes of MP needed to be installed. The Government headed by businessman Chiril Gaburici was invested with the votes of the Liberal-Democratic, Democratic and Communist MPs. Only Lib-Dems Iurie Leanca and Eugen Carpov didn’t vote for it.
