Deputy Speaker of Parliament Iurie Leanca requested the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology and the national ICT regulator ANRCETI to work out a strategy for abolishing roaming  charges for Moldovan citizens who travel in the EU, IPN reports.

Iurie Leanca said that during his recent visit to Moldova, Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn said the roaming charges between the EU and the Eastern Partnership countries should be harmonized. “In this connection, I ask for information about the plan of action at legislative level and the regulations of the ANRCETI and ICT Ministry and about the steps that will be taken to adjust our telecommunications market to the EU market so as to hasten the process of scrapping roaming charges for Moldovan citizens who travel in the EU,” says the Deputy Speaker’s request.

Iurie Leanca noted that the abolition of roaming charges would show once again that the citizens of our country can enjoy the same treatment as the citizens of the member states of the European Union.
