The chairman of the European People’s Party of Moldova Iurie Leanca had official meetings with the President of Bulgaria Rosen Plevneliev and the Prime Minister of this country Boyko Borissov in Sofia. In the discussions, the officials conferred on the bilateral relations, the developments in the two states and regional challenges, IPN reports.
Special attention was devoted to the situation of ethnic Bulgarians in Moldova, the integration of the Bulgarian community in Moldovan society and aspects of the education system in education institutions where a series of disciplines are taught in Bulgarian. The Bulgarian officials pledged to continue to finance socioeconomic and educational projects in settlements in Taraclia district.
The interlocutors also discussed the prospects of intensifying the Moldova-EU relations, the more active involvement of the EU in the justice sector reform and the fight against corruption in Moldova, and Bulgaria’s support for the EU’s enlargement to the East. The Bulgarian officials noted that the European integration of Moldova and the reforms related to this process do not have an alternative.
The sides also agreed that a delegation consisting of Bulgarian MEPs and members of the Parliament of Bulgaria will soon pay a visit to Chisinau.
