Iurie Leanca has all the chances to be voted in as Prime Minister, former judge at the European Court of Human Rights Stanislav Pavlovschi said in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel.

“Iurie Leanca is the most suitable candidate. He has analytical abilities, is evenhanded and is not suspected of acts of corruption. He would be the first Prime Minister to communicate directly with the foreign partners as he knows foreign languages,” said Stanislav Pavlovschi. He considers that during the term of the current legislature, Vlad Filat cannot be named Premier.

Sergiu Ostaf, director of the Resource Center for Human Rights (CReDO), believes that a candidate for premiership can be designated during the next few weeks and Leanca is a good candidate who received everyone’s support.

Journalist Ion Terguta considers that Iurie Leanca does not want to be Premier and namely for this reason he is the best candidate for this post.

Referring to the appointment of Iurie Leanca as interim Prime Minister, former Deputy Foreign Minister Valeriu Ostalep said the interim Premier has technical duties and his powers are limited. “It is rational for Moldova to have a Government, even if in a month. Moldova needs a Government so as to be able to develop economically,” he stated.

On April 22, the Constitutional Court decided that the President’s decree to designate Vlad Filat as a candidate for Prime Minster was unconstitutional. The next day, Nicolae Timofti named Acting Deputy Prime Minister Iurie Leanca as interim Premier. Leanca will take up his duties on April 25.
