“It is an important day for Moldova, for country’s democracy,” CEC chairwoman

The chairwoman of the Central Election Commission Angelica Caraman, said that today is an important day for the Republic of Moldova, for the country’s democracy. According to her, through voting, every citizen has the chance to express their opinion and contribute to the development of a fair, prosperous and united society, IPN reports.

“Today the citizens are urged to exercise their right to vote in two ballots – the national constitutional referendum and the presidential election. This day symbolizes our common commitment to the values of freedom, equality and active participation,” the CEC head told reporters at a briefing.

According to Angela Caraman, the CEC, together with the over 25,0000 electoral officials of polling stations, the electoral councils guarantee the conduct of this process in a fair, safe and transparent way. All the conditions are met so that every citizen can freely and unrestrictedly exercise their right to vote.

Electoral officials are obliged to offer to the voter two ballots, one for the presidential election and the other one for the national constitutional referendum. The voter will the signature on the electoral roll in two sections, for each ballot. If the voter informs the member of the electoral office that he/she will take only one ballot, they will be shown in which section to sign. It is important to note that the voters cannot repeatedly go to the polling station, invoking the fact that they voted only in one ballot.
