Ordinary people, writers and officials laid flowers at Mihai Eminescu’s bust on June 15, when it is 122 years of the poet’s death, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Communists were the first to lay flowers at the bust in Chisinau’s central park. They were followed by the Liberals and Prime Minister Vlad Filat. “Mihai Eminescu was not only a great bard and prose writer, but also a great visionary. The works written by him over 100 years ago are topical,” said Vlad Filat. He gave as example the poem “To My Critics”, saying that we remember Mihai Eminescu every day because we speak the same language as the poet. The PCRM’s candidate for mayor of Chisinau Igor Dodon said that Mihai Eminescu would be indignant if he saw the political situation and chaos prevailing in Moldova. The Communist Party head Vladimir Voronin said the poet wouldn’t have liked the policy pursued in Moldova, as this is not real policy. The Liberal Party’s candidate for mayor Dorin Chirtoaca said that when we read the poet’s works, we realize what we have to do in life. “Everyone should penetrate the bard’s thoughts so as to be able to easier answer a series of questions. There shouldn’t be so many lies and manipulation as at present,” said Dorin Chirtoaca. Mihai Eminescu died on June 15, 1889 at the health house of Doctor Sutu in Bucharest.
