Issue on public transport tariff included in the agenda of next CMC meeting

The item on adjusting the tariffs to public passenger transportation will be included on the agenda of the next meeting of Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC). This specification was made by the interim mayor of the capital, Vasile Ursu, at the last CMC meeting, being asked by the municipal councilor Ion Mamaliga, chairman of the Private Transporters Association, why the tariffs issue was not included in the agenda, under the conditions when the meeting was organized namely for discussing certain serious matters. Ursu mentioned that at the end of the next meeting all the necessary materials should be prepared, including arguments for the request to increase the public transport tariffs. Now the specialized commissions of CMC are examining the Strategy on Development of Public Transport in Chisinau municipality, and as it was previously lacking, the councilors refused to adjust the tariffs to real costs. Previously, the head of General Public Transport and Communications Department (DGTPCC), Veaceslav Tarna, reported that all the materials are prepared a long time ago, including arguments to increase the tariffs. DGTPCC required many times adjusting the tariffs to real costs, including on the ground that, in summer, the passenger flow decreases, and the financial condition of the transport operators is worsening. Transporters propose to increase the price for a travel ticket by trolleybus up to 1.5 lei, 2 lei by bus and of 3 lei for traveling by microbuses.
