Wrestler Irina Rîngaci (68 kg weight class) has won a bronze medal at the European U23 Wrestling Championships in Bucharest, IPN reports.
She scored three victories in the 68 kg weight class, against Germany’s Sophia Schaefle, Ukraine’s Manola Skobelska and Italy’s Laura Godino, being beaten in the semifinals by the future European champion Nesrin Bas of Turkey.
In the 55 kg weight class, Mihaela Samoil lost the fight for the bronze medal to Azerbaijan’s Elnura Mammadova.
Moldovan wrestler Mariana Draguțan competes in the playoffs on Friday. If she defeats Chadia Ayachi of France, she will meet Gultakin Shirinova of Azerbaijan in the fight for the bronze medal.
