The Irish Government announced the opening of an embassy in Moldova. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that this is a clear sign of Ireland’s desire to intensify its relationship with Moldova, IPN reports.
“The decision, based on reciprocity, marks a new stage in Ireland’s bilateral relationship with the Republic of Moldova, through which the existing developing bilateral cooperation will be strengthened, deepened and extended,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The Irish state’s decision is part of the expansion of Ireland’s diplomatic and consular network as part of the Global Ireland program.
The Republic of Moldova and Ireland established diplomatic relations on September 30, 1999.
