A new individual action plan of Moldova-NATO partnership is to be negotiated this year, followed by the beginning of implementation of the second phase of the defense capacity building initiative for the Republic of Moldova. This was announced by Prime Minister Maia Sandu after the meeting with John Bolton, the advisor for national security to the US president, who is on an official visit to Chisinau. According to the prime minister, the meeting focused on the priorities of the current government, starting with the needs and expectations of citizens: combating high levels of corruption, reducing poverty, creating opportunities for economic development, finding ways to diversify the supply of energy sources. "And we wish these subjects to remain part of the process of assistance and bilateral cooperation with the United States of America," the prime minister noted.


According to Ion Ceban, secretary for ideology of the Socialist Party, the Socialists are ready to sign this document based on which the two parties will govern the country further. The main provisions of the agreement must concern the justice reform, stability of economic factors, assurance of social stability and increase in the social aid for the population. "We have conveyed the main provisions of the concept of justice reform, I think it is the most important part to be included in the new agreement," said the politician. "On our part, we have a very clear vision of things, we know how and what to do. We have presented our vision to our ACUM colleagues. They have their own priorities that they deem important. The ball is now in their court,” says the Socialist.
 

No file has been registered so far in the contest for the position of prosecutor general, launched by the Superior Council of Prosecutors on August 9. Asked by journalists, the interim Prosecutor General, Dumitru Robu, said he would not put forward his candidacy. Angela Motuzoc, CSP chairwoman, told the press that the last day for submission is September 10. If no candidate is registered, the submission period will be extended.

The revenues to the state budget increased by 6.3% in the first seven months of the year compared to the same period of 2018, while expenses increased by 15.4%. The budget deficit registered during the mentioned period was 2398.9 million lei. The revenues collected by the Customs Service and State Tax Service increased while income tax revenues decreased by 2.8% compared to the same period of the previous year.

PAS group MP, ACUM Bloc, Lilian Carp, notifies the General Prosecutor's Office about a series of violations committed at the National Enterprise "Railway of Moldova". The MP claims that a group of Bender railway hub employees brought him information, including video evidence, about how other employees are hiding scrap metal accumulated in the process of old wagon disposal, which is subsequently illegally sold. On July 23, the internal security service of the "Railway of Moldova" conducted checks at Bender and found warehouses full of aluminium and copper. According to documents, the warehouses were empty.
 

Representatives of the OSCE Mission to Moldova will observe the ceremony dedicated to the first school bell in the educational establishments with Latin script teaching in the Transnistrian region. "the Mission visits the schools and regularly observes celebrations related to the commencement and the end of the academic year," says a commentary of the Mission offered to IPN Agency. At an event organized at the end of last year by Promo-LEX Association, with the participation of the directors of the establishments, it was mentioned that the greatest pressure was felt on September 1 and May 31. Then, students and teachers are monitored by people in civilian clothes or uniforms, they have no right to sing the anthem of the Republic of Moldova or to fly the tricolor. The principals of the schools also spoke about discrimination, stress and fear endured by students and teachers from educational establishments teaching in Romanian language in the Transnistrian region.


A meeting in the 5 + 2 format is due to take place on October 8-10, and the agenda envisages important discussions, meant to prod the settlement process of the Transnistrian dispute. That was stated by President Igor Dodon, who had today, August 29, a meeting with Slovakian Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova Dušan Dacho.

Lawyer Ilie Rotaru will run for MP seat in the snap parliamentary elections in constituency no. 50, in the west of Moldova. Ilie Rotaru said that among the actions included in his electoral program was "the creation of a parliamentary commission that would investigate the activity of the Prosecutor's Office and of judges as regards the fabricated criminal cases and the conviction sentences passed by order of Vladimir Voronin and Vlad Plahotniuc”. According to Ilie Rotaru, "the activity of the commission would focus on the study of concrete criminal cases, which have gone through all the stages of judicial examination during the last 10-15 years."
Ilie Rotaru also mentioned the intention to set up the People's Court for the Investigation of Litigants’ Crimes. Citizens can personally inform of any injustice they have been subjected to, which then will be made public.
 

Current interim president of the Democratic Party and former Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, announces that he will put forward his candidacy for the leadership of PDM. In other news, Pavel Filip is optimistic that more candidates will run on behalf of the Democratic Party during the local election of October 20 than the number of Democratic incumbents that won the previous elections of 2015. Additionally, the Democrat says that the current Democratic incumbents are not rushing to leave the ranks of the party, as it is rumored.
